Bluetooth service charter

The rapid spread of new media has presented the opportunity for motorway users to receive messages via these systems as well. It is possible to transmit messages regarding current traffic conditions as well as road and weather conditions in real time via mobile devices (PDA, smartphones, netbooks, etc.) and mobile phones. These various channels also offer a range of useful information for motorway users (safety tips, information regarding the infrastructure and the area the user is travelling through, information for tourists and about events, useful links, etc.)

In 2008, the “Vademecum@A22” pilot project was launched with the aim of providing an information service based on Bluetooth technology for motorway users at service stations. It uses the Bluetooth technology built into the latest generation of most mobile phones and palmtops which enables the transfer of multi-media content via VHF at no cost to the user.  As many motorway users are equipped with a Bluetooth mobile or palmtop, it is possible to establish a direct connection between Brenner Motorway and a majority of the users via an information service at the service stations based on this technology.

In this context, the mobile website of the company (for mobile clients such as smartphones and PDA) is customised to add the applications developed for the “Vademecum@A22” project to the existing content and align the layout to the properties of the latest generation of devices.

This new web presence allows users to receive information regarding road and weather conditions, view the webcam and find out about the company, the motorway network and the surrounding area.
